Teo Heng Teochew Porridge located at Amoy Street Food Market. You are able to make your order as early as 8am on weekdays.
They do not have wide variety of choices for selection but they sell typical teochew dishes such as fishcake, steam fish, boiled cabbage, duck meat, braised pork, etc.
I have ordered fishcake, cabbage and tau pok which costs me S$3.80.
There are 2 types of braised tau pok, one is purely braised tau pok and the other is stuffed with ingredients. The braised tau pok I choose is quite unique dish, it is filled with sliced duck meat and cucumber. The tau pok texture is just right, not too dry. When you bite on it, the cucumber will produces the water which makes the dish more juicy.
The fishcake, the texture is tender yet not too soft and the taste is good and fresh. The fishcake is best dip with their chilli. Their chilli is one of the best chilli I have tried to go with Teochew porridge. As for the cabbage, I personally find it abit bland, it tastes very original without cooking it with extra ingredients.
I choose the porridge to have braised sauce on it. The braised sauce brings taste to the plain porridge. The braised sauce smells nice and taste good.
