146 DimSum Handmade Bao in Potong Pasir is one place that deserves a spot on your food list. Tucked away in the neighbourhood, this humble stall has been serving freshly made dim sum for more than 20 years and continues to attract a loyal following. I have been visiting this stall since I first started working, and even after all these years, the quality and taste remain consistently satisfying.
One thing that has never changed is the crowd. If you visit during the morning, especially on weekends, be prepared to queue. Despite the long wait, customers patiently line up because they know they are getting freshly prepared dim sum.

My Favourite Order at 146 DimSum Handmade Bao
Big Bao
What keeps me returning time and time again to 146 DimSum Handmade Bao is their handmade Big Bao. Every bite reveals a generous amount of savoury filling that is juicy and well-seasoned. The balance between the fluffy bun and the flavourful filling makes it incredibly satisfying. It has been my favourite item on the menu for years and is something I would recommend to every first-time visitor.

One of the highlights at 146 DimSum Handmade Bao is watching the staff hand-make the baos right at the stall. You can often see them skillfully preparing and wrapping each bao before steaming them fresh. It shows the care they put into every bun and makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Besides the Big Bao, you can also try their Char Siew Bao, Hotdog Bao, and even the Coffee Bao. With such a wide variety of handmade baos available, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Chee Cheong Fun
Another my favourite-order at 146 DimSum Handmade Bao is their Chee Cheong Fun where I can choose between the traditional sweet sauce or the Hong Kong-style savoury sauce. I personally enjoy the Hong Kong-style sauce which brings a lighter, savoury taste that allows the smooth rice rolls to shine.

Four Heavenly Kings at 146 DimSum Handmade Bao
Besides these two favourites, 146 DimSum Handmade Bao is also well known for its Four Heavenly Kings, a classic combination that many regular customers order. The platter includes pork ribs, har gow, siew mai and chicken feet, giving diners a chance to enjoy some of the stall’s signature steamed dim sum in one meal.
The Har Gow features translucent skin wrapped around fresh, crunchy prawns.

The Siew Mai is packed with juicy pork that is well-seasoned and full of flavour, making every bite satisfying.

The Pork Ribs are well-marinated and steamed until tender, absorbing every bit of the savoury seasoning.

I enjoy traditional Cantonese dim sum, the Chicken Feet are another highlight, it is infused with a rich, savoury sauce that makes every bite enjoyable.

Besides their signature items, there are plenty more choices on the dim sum menu to satisfy every craving. You can also consider ordering their fragrant Lotus Rice, which is another popular choice among regulars.
If you’re a porridge lover, do note that it is usually available only on weekends at 146 DimSum Handmade Bao. You can check with the staff when placing your order. They will normally let customers know if porridge is available that day and ask if you would like to order a bowl.
One of the things I appreciate most about 146 DimSum is that it has stayed true to its roots. The food is simple, comforting and focuses on quality rather than fancy presentation. In today’s world where many eateries constantly reinvent themselves, it is refreshing to find a stall that continues to serve traditional handmade dim sum with the same dedication it had decades ago.
