Dalgona Coffee: How to Make an Amazing Cup with Just 3 Simple Ingredients

Have you ever wished you could make café-style Dalgona Coffee without leaving your house? Well, this recipe is exactly what you need. We’re taking plain instant coffee and turning it into something light, fluffy, and incredibly satisfying Dalgona Coffee. This is not your regular cup of coffee with a splash of milk. This is coffee transformed into a cloud.

What is Dalgona Coffee?

Dalgona coffee went viral worldwide. Honestly, it deserves all the hype. With just three basic ingredients, you can whip instant coffee into a thick, creamy foam that sits right on top of your milk like a dream. It looks fancy, but it’s surprisingly easy to make at home.

It’s creamier, richer, and way more fun than your usual morning coffee. Once you try it this way, there’s no going back.

What You’ll Need

You probably already have everything in your kitchen:

Equipment (Pick one):

  • Hand whisk (takes longer)
  • Electric mixer (fastest)
  • Milk frother (surprisingly effective)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • 1 cup milk (cold or warm)
  • Ice (optional)

That’s it. No fancy equipment, no complicated steps.

How to Make Dalgona Coffee

Step 1: Mix the coffee, sugar, and hot water together Use equal amounts of all three. This equal ratio is the key to getting that perfect, thick foam. Don’t skip this, it really matters.

Step 2: Whip it up Now comes the fun part. Whip the mixture until it turns pale, thick, glossy, and fluffy. You can use a hand whisk, an electric mixer, or even a milk frother. The electric mixer is the fastest, but a hand whisk works too, it just takes a little more effort and arm strength! Keep going until it looks like a light, airy cloud.

Step 3: Prepare your milk Fill a glass with cold milk and ice for a refreshing iced version. Or use warm milk if you prefer something cosy and comforting. Both work great. Personally, I prefer mine iced especially on those hot and humid days in Singapore.

Step 4: Spoon the whipped coffee on top This is the best part. Gently spoon the fluffy coffee foam right on top of the milk. Watch it sit there like a dreamy cloud. It looks so good, you’ll want to take a photo before drinking it.

Step 5: Swirl, sip, and enjoy You can swirl it all together or drink it in layers. Either way, every sip is smooth, creamy, and full of coffee flavour. Absolutely delicious.
