3 Irresistible Sips and Bites at Cheevit Cheeva Penang We’re Dangerously Hooked On

We were not even planning to visit Cheevit Cheeva initially, but while walking around the streets of George Town after another food stop, we unintentionally came across Cheevit Cheeva. The beautiful exterior of the cafe immediately caught our attention, and without much hesitation, we decided to step inside and give it a try. Interestingly, Cheevit Cheeva has built quite a strong reputation in Penang, but many people may not realise that this popular dessert cafe actually originated from Thailand.

Cozy Environment of Cheevit Cheeva

The cafe was clean, spacious, and nicely air-conditioned, which was honestly a blessing after walking under Penang’s hot weather. The environment felt very relaxing and modern, making it a perfect place to take a break from all the non-stop eating we had been doing throughout the trip. At that point, our stomachs barely had any space left, but somehow there is always room for dessert. It is the kind of cafe where you can comfortably chill for a while and slowly enjoy your desserts.

My Order from Cheevit Cheeva

Mango Smoothie

Mango Smoothie, which turned out to be the perfect thirst quencher. After spending hours walking around George Town, this drink tasted incredibly refreshing. You could immediately taste the real mango flavour without it feeling too artificial or overly sweet. It had a natural fruity sweetness that made it super enjoyable, especially in Penang’s warm weather. Sometimes simple drinks are the best, and this definitely hit the spot.

Thai Milk Tea Bingsu

Next came the Thai Milk Tea Bingsu, which was easily one of my favourite items at Cheevit Cheeva. The fragrance of the Thai milk tea infused into the shaved ice was just right. The shaved ice was incredibly light and fluffy, almost like snow, and it melted smoothly in the mouth without feeling heavy. The Thai milk tea flavour was rich, creamy, and aromatic, striking a nice balance between sweetness and tea fragrance. Topped with condensed milk and chewy bits that added texture, every spoonful felt refreshing yet indulgent at the same time. Some Thai milk tea desserts can taste overly strong and sweet, but this one felt very balanced.

Salty Egg Yolk Vanilla Ice Cream French Waffle

The most interesting item we ordered was definitely the Salty Egg Yolk Vanilla Ice Cream French Waffle. At first, pouring salty egg yolk sauce over ice cream sounded slightly weird to me, but after the first bite, I completely understood the hype.

The combination actually works surprisingly well. Think of it like salted caramel ice cream, but upgraded to another level. The slight saltiness from the egg yolk sauce enhanced the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream beautifully. The creamy salty egg sauce blended together with the cold ice cream perfectly, creating a rich and addictive flavour combination. Paired with the crispy waffle, every bite felt indulgent without becoming too overwhelming.

Cheevit Cheeva turned out to be one of the best unexpected dessert stops during our trip. From the refreshing mango smoothie to the fragrant Thai milk tea bingsu and the surprisingly addictive salty egg yolk waffle dessert, every item felt memorable in its own way.
