Tucked away in an ulu industrial estate, Dolphins’ Restaurant is one of those hidden gems that you might easily miss if you did not know it was there. What makes the experience even more interesting is that you have to take an old-style lift to reach the restaurant. From the moment you arrive, you can already feel that this is not your usual modern dining place.
Dolphins’ Restaurant has been serving classic Western food for more than 30 years. Walking into the restaurant feels like stepping back in time. The retro decorations, old-school furniture and nostalgic atmosphere give the place a unique charm. It has a very different feel from the trendy restaurants we see today.

One thing that really caught my attention was the value of their set meals. Every set meal comes with free-flow soup, garlic bread and drinks, so you can enjoy more without worrying about ordering additional servings. For me, this makes the meal even more worthwhile.

What I Ordered at Dolphins’ Restaurant
We started with the Baked Escargot Supreme with Garlic Green Butter and Cheese as an appetizer. The escargot was covered with cheese that had been baked until slightly crispy. Compared with some escargot dishes that have a stronger garlic flavour, I found the garlic taste here to be milder. The crispy cheese added a nice texture to the dish and made it a good starter.

The Soup of the Day was fish soup. Interestingly, the taste reminded me of lobster bisque. It had a rich and comforting flavour that I enjoyed.

The garlic bread was another highlight. It was served hot and tasted really good, especially when enjoyed with the soup. Since the garlic bread is free-flow, you can always order more if you are like me and enjoy having extra bread with your soup.

For the main course, I ordered the Spaghetti Seafood with Chilli Crab Sauce, and this turned out to be one of my favourite dishes of the meal. The spaghetti was flavourful, while the chilli crab sauce had just the right balance. It was not overly sweet, which I liked. The sauce also coated the spaghetti nicely, allowing the noodles to absorb all the delicious flavours. The fish and prawns were also pretty fresh, with a natural sweetness that complemented the chilli crab sauce nicely.

I also tried the Dolphin Flambe Steak with mushroom sauce from Dolphins’ Restaurant daily set menu. The waitress brought the steak to our table and then set up the flame, creating a fun and dramatic tableside experience as the steak was flambéed right in front of us.
I requested the steak to be cooked medium. The mushroom sauce went well with the steak and added extra flavour to each bite. If you enjoy having steak with a classic sauce, this is a comforting choice.

Finally, Dolphins’ restaurant serves their dessert. It was a simple but refreshing jelly with lychee. After having the rich and savoury dishes, the light and fruity dessert was a pleasant way to end the meal. The lychee added a refreshing sweetness without making the dessert feel too heavy.

Even the receipt looks so old-school, adding another nostalgic touch to the whole dining experience.

Final Thoughts
Overall, Dolphins’ Restaurant is more than just a place for Western food. The old-style lift, retro interior and long history make the whole dining experience feel nostalgic. I also appreciate the generous free-flow soup, garlic bread and drinks that come with the set meal.
If you are looking for a hidden gem with a nostalgic atmosphere, classic Western dishes and good-value set meals, Dolphins’ Restaurant is definitely worth checking out.
