Craving authentic Taiwanese food in Singapore? Eat 3 Bowls (呷三碗) is a place where you can enjoy a variety of Taiwanese favourites, from braised pork rice and mee sua to crispy snacks and comforting soups. What caught my attention was the restaurant’s name. Why Eat 3 Bowls? Well, there is a delicious reason behind it!

While queuing for a table at Eat 3 Bowls, I noticed a cute sign outside the restaurant that caught my attention while waiting for the staff to show us to our table.

Why Is It Called Eat 3 Bowls?
The highlight is the Eat 3 Bowls Signature Trio Combo featuring three Taiwanese delicacies served in mini bowls: braised pork rice, oyster and pig intestine mee sua, and shredded chicken rice. Instead of choosing just one main dish, you get to sample all three in one order. That is exactly why the restaurant is called Eat 3 Bowls.

I really like this concept because it allows me to try different Taiwanese flavours without having to order three full-sized portions. It is also a great way to discover which dish suits your taste buds best!
Three Mini Bowls, Three Different Experiences

The Braised Pork Rice at Eat 3 Bowls immediately reminded me of eating bak chang, or rice dumplings. The braised pork had a strong, aromatic spice flavour that really stood out. I could taste the richness of the seasoning, making this a bowl for those who enjoy bold, savoury flavours. Personally, I found the spices quite strong, so if you prefer lighter-tasting food, this might not be your first choice. However, if you love your braised pork packed with flavour, you will probably enjoy this one!

Next was the Oyster and Pig Intestine Mee Sua. The mee sua was flavourful, and I enjoyed the combination of oysters and pig intestine. It had that comforting Taiwanese-style taste that made me want to savour the noodles with the broth. Among the three bowls, this is a good choice for anyone who enjoys traditional Taiwanese mee sua with a more distinctive combination of ingredients.

My favourite of the three at Eat 3 Bowls was definitely the Shredded Chicken Rice! Unlike the braised pork rice, this bowl had a much lighter flavour, but that was exactly what I liked about it. The natural fragrance of the chicken came through without being overpowered by strong seasoning. It was also quite different from the chicken rice we commonly eat in Singapore. I appreciated this difference because it gave me a taste of another style of chicken rice. If I had to choose just one of the three bowls at Eat 3 Bowls, I would pick the shredded chicken rice without hesitation!

If you have tried the signature three mini bowls at Eat 3 Bowls, let me know which one is your favourite: the braised pork rice, oyster and pig intestine mee sua, or shredded chicken rice. More Taiwanese Food on Our Table
Of course, we did not stop at the three mini bowls at Eat 3 Bowls! We also ordered several other Taiwanese favourites.
Egg Fried Rice
The Egg Fried Rice is a familiar choice for those who prefer a simple rice dish.

Zha Jiang Noodles
The Zha Jiang Noodles are another option for noodle lovers. The savoury fermented-bean-style sauce is what gives this classic dish its distinctive character, coating the noodles with a rich, savoury flavour. If you enjoy noodles with a more robust sauce rather than a soup base, this is a dish worth considering.

Taiwanese Cold Noodles
We also tried the Taiwanese Cold Noodles, which reminded me of Japanese cold noodles.

The noodles were not ice-cold but closer to room temperature.

The sauce gave the noodles a distinctive flavour that was slightly different from the Japanese version, giving this Taiwanese cold noodle dish its own unique character.

It was a refreshing change from the warm rice and noodle dishes on our table and a nice option for those who enjoy chilled noodles.

White Radish Pork Ball Soup
The White Radish Pork Ball Soup is a comforting option to enjoy alongside the rice and noodles. White radish is known for its naturally mild, slightly sweet flavour, while pork balls add a savoury element to the soup. I like having soup with a meal because it gives us something warm to sip between bites of the other dishes.

Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup
The Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup is worth trying if you enjoy the distinctive aroma of sesame oil. The nutty fragrance of the sesame oil, combined with the savoury chicken broth, reminded me of the confinement food I had. It brought back familiar memories of those comforting, home-style meals. If you enjoy sesame oil chicken and its rich aroma, this soup may bring back some familiar flavours for you too!

Crispy Fried Mushroom (Spicy)
For something crispy, we ordered the Crispy Fried Mushroom (Spicy). The appeal of this snack is the contrast between the crispy outer coating and the mushroom inside. The spicy seasoning adds an extra kick, making it a tempting choice for those who enjoy crunchy bites with a little heat.

Salted Crispy Chicken (Spicy)
We also ordered the Salted Crispy Chicken (Spicy). The crispy coating gives this Taiwanese-style snack its satisfying crunch, while the salted seasoning adds a savoury taste.

However, between the two fried snacks, I personally prefer the Crispy Fried Mushroom. I found the mushroom a more enjoyable choice, making it my pick if I were to order only one of these two snacks again!
My Verdict: Which Would I Choose Again?
If I were to visit Eat 3 Bowls again, I would definitely order the signature Eat 3 Bowls to enjoy all three Taiwanese delicacies in one meal. I would also get the Crispy Fried Mushroom (Spicy) because I personally prefer it over the salted crispy chicken. If I have enough space in my tummy, I would add either the White Radish Pork Ball Soup or the Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup to complete my meal.
