One of the hotels I keep going back to for a quick getaway in Johor Bahru is Renaissance JB Hotel. It strikes that perfect balance between comfort, convenience, and just the right touch of indulgence to make every stay feel like a proper escape. Whether you are crossing over from Singapore for the weekend or simply looking for a relaxing staycation in JB, this hotel ticks all the right boxes.
Why Renaissance JB Hotel Stands Out
From the moment you check in, the experience feels polished yet warm. The rooms are well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. That is exactly what you need to recharge after a busy week. The staff are attentive and genuinely friendly, which always makes a difference when you are away from home.
One big plus point is the hotel shuttle bus to Mid Valley Southkey, which means you can skip the hassle of transport and dive straight into shopping, cafes, and endless food options. It is a small but thoughtful perk that makes the overall stay so much more convenient, especially if you do not have a car.
The Real Highlight is Renaissance JB Hotel Executive Lounge
Honestly, the highlight of every stay for me is the Renaissance JB Hotel Executive Lounge. It opens from 5:30PM and feels like a proper mini buffet experience all on its own.

There is a generous spread of food, from hearty savoury bites that can easily double up as dinner, to a lovely variety of desserts and fresh fruits. The selection rotates, so every visit feels a little fresh and different. You will not find yourself eating the same thing twice.

What really makes it special is the live noodle station, where a staff member cooks up a warm bowl of noodles just for you on the spot. It is that kind of personalised, attentive touch that elevates the whole lounge experience and makes it feel far more premium than a typical hotel buffet spread.

On top of the food, you also get free-flow wine and beer 🍷🍺 which is perfect for unwinding after a long day of shopping or exploring the city. There is something deeply satisfying about settling into a comfortable lounge chair with a glass of wine and a plate of good food, knowing you have nowhere to rush off to.
Family-Friendly Too
One thing that surprised me and also delighted me is that kids are allowed in the Executive Lounge too. This makes it a genuinely great option for families travelling together. Parents can relax and enjoy their drinks while the little ones snack, nibble on fruits, and unwind. It is a rare win-win situation that not many hotel lounges offer, and it makes the Renaissance JB Hotel Executive Lounge stand out even more.
Beyond the Hotel
The location of Renaissance JB Hotel is another huge bonus. Step outside and you will find plenty of eateries nearby, from casual bites to more hearty and satisfying meals. If you are in the mood to fully recharge after a long day, there are also massage spots within walking distance, perfect for ending the evening on a truly relaxed and indulgent note.

All in all, Renaissance JB Hotel is one of those stays that keeps things easy, enjoyable, and just a little bit indulgent. Would I go back? Without a doubt. 😊
