HARU HARU Ramen Singapore: A Simple Yet Delightful Hidden Gem

Haru Haru Ramen is proof that you don’t always need to visit a shopping mall or a Japanese restaurant chain to enjoy a good bowl of ramen in Singapore. Finding quality Japanese ramen in a neighbourhood coffeeshop is already uncommon, and it’s even rarer to find one serving such rich and flavourful bowls. Despite operating from a humble coffeeshop stall, Haru Haru Ramen has gained recognition in the media and built a loyal following among ramen lovers who appreciate their authentic flavours and quality ingredients.

At first glance, some diners may find the prices slightly high for a coffeeshop stall. However, Haru Haru Ramen accepts CDC Vouchers, making it a little easier on the wallet. After all, coffeeshop meals are usually associated with affordability and quick dining. However, after taking the first few bites, it becomes clear why many customers are willing to pay a little more. The quality of the ingredients, attention to detail, and depth of flavour easily justify the price.

Highlight Dishes at Haru Haru Ramen

I ordered the Shoyu Ramen, which is Haru Haru Ramen’s signature bowl. Their broth is made from chicken collagen, giving it a rich body and silky texture.

I also ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, one of the chef’s top recommendations. The Shoyu Ramen had a flavourful and comforting broth, while the Spicy Miso Ramen was richer with a nice spicy kick. Both bowls were flavourful and satisfying, but I personally preferred the Signature Shoyu Ramen. What about you?

The noodles are cooked to the right texture, retaining a pleasant bite that pairs perfectly with the broth. Each mouthful combines the springy noodles with the rich soup, creating the kind of satisfying experience that ramen lovers constantly search for.

The toppings also contribute greatly to the overall experience. Instead of the usual pork chashu found in many ramen shops, Haru Haru Ramen serves tender chicken chashu that pairs perfectly with the collagen-rich broth. The bowl is also topped with a soft-boiled seasoned egg, featuring a creamy yolk that adds extra richness and flavour to every bite.

Another dish that caught my attention was the fried fish cake. It may look simple, but it was surprisingly enjoyable. The texture was truly special. I could taste the fish meat inside, while the outside was fried to a beautiful golden brown, with a light and crispy exterior that gave way to moist and tender flesh within.

In today’s food scene, it’s easy for hidden gems to be overlooked because they don’t have flashy storefronts or extensive marketing. Haru Haru Ramen is a great reminder that some of the best food experiences can be found in the most unexpected places. Sometimes, all it takes is a small stall with a passion for good food and a commitment to quality.

Currently, they have 3 outlets in Singapore. 2 at Bras Basah Complex and one in Ang Mo Kio. The one I visited was the Ang Mo Kio outlet. They even have a loyalty card with no expiry!
