Jack’s Place: A Nostalgic Feast That Still Delights Every Visit

I still remember the first time I dined at Jack’s Place at Bras Basah Complex. Back then, it felt like a classy and romantic restaurant, with its dim lighting, cozy atmosphere, and warm ambience. It was the kind of place you would choose for a special occasion or a date night. Over the years, Jack’s Place has changed quite a bit, and the atmosphere feels very different from what I remember.

Jack's Place Menu

Even so, two things at Jack’s Place have kept me returning all these years, which are their signature baked potato with their signature dressing and the rich, comforting lobster bisque. Every visit brings back fond memories through these familiar flavours.

Jack’s Place Lobster Bisque

The lobster bisque remains one of my favourite soups. It isn’t too thick or too thin. The consistency is just right. Every spoonful is rich and flavourful, with small pieces of tender lobster meat that add extra sweetness and texture. Dipping the warm garlic bread into the soup makes it even more delicious.

Lobster bisque

If you love Jack’s Place’s lobster bisque, don’t miss BistrOne36. Their version is equally impressive, with a rich, flavourful broth loaded with generous chunks of seafood.

For my main course, I ordered the Ribeye Steak, cooked to medium. I also added the Super Value Set for $10.50, which includes the lobster bisque, garlic bread, and a choice of dessert. It is definitely worth the top-up if you enjoy having a complete meal.

For the set dessert, I chose the Heavenly Chocolate. As its name suggests, it is a rich and indulgent chocolate dessert that chocolate lovers will definitely enjoy.

Slipper Lobster Pasta

The Slipper Lobster Pasta is stir-fried with mushrooms and sakura ebi. The sakura ebi adds a subtle sweetness and a slight crunch, while the garlic-infused pasta is light, fragrant, and packed with umami flavour.

It came with a slipper lobster cut into half, making it easy to enjoy the sweet and tender meat.

For this set, I have ordered a chocolate cake as dessert.

Jack’s Seafood Salad

The Jack’s Seafood Salad used to be one of my regular orders when I had a bigger appetite. It is loaded with prawns, squid, crab meat, tuna, and fresh leafy vegetables, served with a slice of lemon and salad dressing.

The fresh seafood and crisp vegetables make it a light, refreshing appetiser that’s perfect for sharing.

Jack’s Special Steak

Another signature item is the Jack’s Special Steak, which arrives at the table on a sizzling hot plate. The steak is served with a generous helping of savoury sauce and a whole mushroom. The mushroom is incredibly soft and juicy, soaking up all the delicious sauce, making it one of my favourite parts of the dish.

I have ordered the Mango Jelly Delights for the set, it was light and refreshing, with fruity mango flavours and a smooth jelly texture that made it a perfect palate cleanser.

Final Thoughts

Although Jack’s Place has changed over the years, it continues to be a restaurant that brings back many happy memories. While the ambience may not be quite the same as before, the comforting flavours of the lobster bisque, baked potato with its signature dressing, and sizzling steaks are enough to keep me coming back.

Sometimes, it’s not just about trying the newest restaurants. It’s about revisiting familiar places that remind you of the good old days. For me, Jack’s Place will always be one of those places.
