Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe: A Wonderful Neighbourhood Spot for Steak, Seafood & Nepali Flavours

Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe is a neighbourhood cafe and restaurant where you can enjoy steak, seafood and Nepali-inspired cuisine without travelling all the way to the city area. If you are looking for a casual dining spot closer to home.

Tim's Restaurant and Cafe Seafood Steak & Nepalese Cuisine

During my visit, we ordered the Tomato Basil Soup with Garlic Bread, Scallop Rockefeller, Seafood Chowmein and US Black Angus Tenderloin. The special of the day caught my attention which was the Black Angus Tenderloin special at $38 for 220g, compared with the usual price of $58. Since the daily special changes, you may find a different promotion when you visit Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe.

Special of the day

Fresh and Slightly Sweet Scallop Rockefeller as Starter

The Scallop Rockefeller was another seafood dish we tried.

The scallops were fresh and slightly sweet, with a pleasant natural flavour. I recommend squeezing some fresh lemon juice over the scallops before eating. The tangy citrus adds a refreshing lift and helps balance the richness of the butter and cheese, while bringing out the natural sweetness of the scallops.

It is a simple addition, but I found that the lemon made the scallops more enjoyable.

Seafood Chowmein with a Nepali Twist

At first glance, the Seafood Chowmein looks like a familiar Asian-style noodle dish. However, the taste is quite different from the usual chowmein.

Seafood Chowmein

The noodles are cooked with Nepali spices, giving the dish a distinctive flavour. So while it may look like a typical Asian noodle dish, don’t expect it to taste like the usual Chinese-style chowmein.

I thought the Nepali spices gave the seafood noodles an interesting twist. If you enjoy trying dishes with different flavours, this is one to consider when dining at Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe.

US Black Angus Tenderloin (220g) for $38

Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe’s US Black Angus Tenderloin was the highlight of our meal.

US Black Angus Tenderloin

The 220g Black Angus tenderloin was available as a special the day for $38, instead of its usual price of $58. The steak was well cooked, juicy and tender, and I could enjoy it without the sauce because the meat itself was already flavourful.

Of course, having the steak with the sauce adds more flavour. However, I felt that the sauce portion was quite small. If you are someone who likes plenty of sauce with your steak, you may wish there was a little more.

The steak also came with a baked potato. The potato was soft, but I think it would have been even better with more bacon bits and sauce. More bacon would add extra savoury flavour and a little crunch, while additional sauce would make the baked potato more flavourful.

Still, at $38 for a 220g Black Angus tenderloin, it was a satisfying choice for a casual restaurant meal.

Soup, Cake and Drink Top-Up at ONLY for $5.50

To finish our meal, we decided to top up just $5.50 for the Soup of the Day, Dessert of the Day, and a choice of hot coffee, tea or Milo.

I thought this was a nice and affordable option if you want to add a little something extra to your meal at Tim’s Restaurant and Cafe. After enjoying steak, seafood and noodles, ending the meal with a warm drink and dessert made it feel more complete without adding too much to the bill.

Tomato Basil Soup with Garlic Bread

The Soup of the Day was Tomato Basil Soup, and it came with garlic bread.

The garlic bread was well toasted and crispy, making it perfect for dipping into the tomato basil soup. This was actually one of my favourite ways to enjoy it. The toasted bread soaked up the soup nicely, giving every bite a combination of crunchy bread and rich tomato flavour.

If you enjoy having bread with soup, don’t forget to dip the garlic bread into the soup!
